"I live at the head of the river, you live at the tail, our affection is boundless, sharing the same river water..." In 1957, a poem titled "To a Myanmar Friend," which represents the friendship between China and Myanmar, circulated in both countries, profoundly interpreting the "Bao Bo" (blood-and-water) bond between the peoples of the two nations. 2022 marks the 72nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar, as well as the 66th anniversary of the first China-Myanmar Border People's Friendship Festival. To inherit and develop the "Bao Bo" friendship, solidify the foundation of public opinion for cooperation between Yunnan and Myanmar, and jointly seek the development of the border region, the "Yunlianhuan" (Yunnan-Myanmar Border People's Friendship Festival) series of activities—"People's Friendship, Hearts Connected"—hosted by the Yunnan Provincial People's Association for Foreign Friendship and the Chinese Consulate General in Mandalay, is about to launch on June 29, 2022.

The theme of this "Cloud Reunion" event is "Sharing the Same River Water, Deepening the Bond of Kinship," and it will be held through a combination of "online and offline" methods. The event content mainly includes: a launching ceremony, a public welfare donation ceremony, cultural and artistic exchange, and a prize-giving event. Currently, all preparations are progressing smoothly. Among them, relevant border counties (cities) of Baoshan City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture, and Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, as well as border areas such as Myitkyina, Mutkyi, Lahu, and Laosay in Myanmar, are actively making preparations for the "Cloud Reunion."

According to statistics, Yunnan Province and Myanmar have established six pairs of sister cities, namely: Yunnan Province—Yangon Region, Kunming City—Mandalay City, Kunming City—Yangon City, Baoshan City—Mrauk U City, Ruili City—Mukja City, and Lincang City—Laosuth City. The cities on both sides have engaged in practical exchanges and cooperation in fields such as economy and trade, education, culture, healthcare, and agriculture. Projects such as "Guangming Xing", "Guomen Primary School", and the "China-Myanmar People's Friendship Festival" have further promoted the mutual understanding between the Chinese and Myanmar people. The relevant cities of Yunnan Province and their corresponding sister cities in Myanmar have supported each other in epidemic prevention and control. Through the donation of anti-epidemic supplies, the exchange of anti-epidemic experiences, and joint prevention and control of border epidemics, they have watched over and helped each other, making positive contributions to deepening the "Bao Bo" friendship between China and Myanmar and promoting the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future.
