On April 25, 2024, the eye-opening ceremony of Sri Lanka's "Bright Walk" event of "HeartLink Yunnan Tour" was held at Lanka Hospital in Colombo. 100 local cataract patients received free sight-restoring surgery during the "Bright Walk" event.

Sri Lankan Speaker Abeywardena, Health Minister Ramesh Patirana, Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong and local cataract patients and their families attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, Abeywardena expressed his gratitude to China for sending an excellent team of doctors and bringing advanced medical equipment and technology to bring light to cataract patients in Sri Lanka.In the past few decades, whenever Sri Lanka encountered difficulties, the Chinese government and people would always lend a helping hand without hesitation.

Candy Punchkhwa, 58, from Hambantota in southern Sri Lanka, underwent cataract surgery on the 24th.She told reporters at the Lanka Hospital event that her vision has declined severely in the past five years and she can only see faint lights and human figures."Yesterday's surgery was painless and the postoperative results were particularly good. My eyesight has improved a lot now. I am very grateful to the Chinese doctors."

This "Heart Connect Yunnan Trip" Sri Lanka "Bright Trip" event was guided by the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, sponsored by the Yunnan Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation Association, and included 8 medical staff from the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University Between the 22nd and 26th, surgical treatment was performed on 100 local Sri Lankan patients.
