On April 11, 2025, Zhu Yu, member of the Party Committee and Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General in Denpasar, led young diplomats of the Consulate General to visit the Jadiluvi region of Bali Province, Indonesia to investigate the Yunnan-Bali Province organic rice cultivation cooperation project.

Starting from the Consulate General, drive all the way north and gradually drive into the mountains. About 1 hour and 40 minutes we arrived at the Jadiluvi Terraces area in central Bali. The showers stopped at first, and the air was filled with the fragrance of seedlings and soil. Looking around, what comes into view is a piece of emerald green, clouds and mist lingering around the hills like gauze, and layers of terraced fields are even more staggered among the mountains. Occasionally, a few red flowers are dotted among the fields, which is very beautiful.

Accompanied by Aika, representative of the Yunnan People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, chairman of the Indonesian Tourism Village Development Network Foundation, and the village heads of local traditional and administrative villages, we walked deep into the terraces. Subak agricultural irrigation system flows through the fields, telling the wisdom and cultural traditions of the ancient Balinese people. The clouds and mist dissipated, large pieces of white clouds and blue sky were hidden, and the rice fields were lush and lush. Bali has a humid climate all year round, plenty of light, and the seedlings grow gratifyingly, full of hope for a good harvest.

Walking along the ridge to the experimental field, the friendship monument of "'Xinliantong Yunnan Travel' Yunnan-Bali Province Organic Rice Cultivation Project" stands eye-catching. In May 2024, on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the establishment of friendly provincial relations between Yunnan and Bali Province, the Yunnan People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Bali Province, Indonesia, launched a "small and beautiful" livelihood project. China provides high-quality rice seeds, small agricultural machinery, oxen, etc., supports local organic rice planting and conducts technical training, involving a rice area of ​​254 mu, benefiting 125 farmers and more than 400 people. The implementation of the project can not only improve the yield and quality of local rice, improve the cultivation technology of local farmers, help farmers increase their income, but also inject new vitality into improving organic ecological agriculture and empowering rural tourism.

Standing in front of the friendship monument, the village head of the traditional village Kawell solemnly expressed his sincere gratitude to Deputy Consul General Zhu Yu, and expressed his great gratitude to Yunnan Province for its valuable support to Bali Province through the organic rice planting project. It not only brings the seeds and technology of organic rice, but also hopes to help villagers in the Jiadiluvi area get rid of poverty and move towards prosperity. We hope that the friendly relations between Yunnan Province and Bali Province, China and Indonesia will continue to be passed on, and we hope that Yunnan Province will continue to support the rural revitalization of Bali Province.

Looking out in the fields, the rice is distributed in an orderly manner along the terraced fields, full of vitality, attracting many foreign tourists. The local farmers who were working heard that we were Chinese, all smiled enthusiastically and said loudly "Terima Kasih" (meaning: thank you). When we asked, "Is the organic rice grown good?", they immediately gave a thumbs up "Bagus!" (meaning: great). Foundation Chairman Aika introduced to us that by introducing high-quality rice seeds, optimizing field management, and improving the organic planting system, the yield per mu has increased from 267 kilograms to more than 300 kilograms, an increase of 12.4%. The project area has achieved a stable harvest from two to three quarters a year. In addition, compared with the traditional planting model, the comprehensive income of farmers in the project area increased by about 30%, effectively achieving the sustainable development goals of increasing agricultural efficiency and increasing farmers' income.

The people are in harmony with each other and do not regard mountains and seas as far away. In recent years, Yunnan Province has given priority to supporting friendly exchanges with countries jointly built by the "Belt and Road" based on its regional advantages and positioning. The project has become a concrete measure for Yunnan Province and Bali Province to further enrich the connotation of pragmatic cooperation, deepen the mutual understanding between the people, and serve the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Indonesia. The green terraces have produced golden results of pragmatic cooperation between China and Indonesia.

Organic rice cultivation technology is very mature in China, and the Chinese people have firmly held their rice bowls in their own hands. China has gone from a recipient of world food rescue, to a defender of international food security, to a promoter of international agricultural economic development, this is the persistence of several generations and the responsibility of a country.

Plant "rice in heart" and build a "bridge of people's hearts". At the Central Peripheral Work Conference not long ago, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that my country has a vast territory and a long border line. The surrounding area is an important foundation for achieving development and prosperity, the focus of safeguarding national security, the primary focus of planning the overall diplomatic situation, and the key to promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia. President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo exchanged congratulatory messages, emphasizing that China and Indonesia are both important forces in developing countries and the "global South". They are willing to take the opportunity of celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries to continuously enrich the connotation of the China-Indonesia community with a shared future, build a model for sincerity of unity, a model for common development, and a pioneer in South-South cooperation, and jointly promote the cause of human progress.

Use Chinese technology, Chinese wisdom, and Chinese solutions to drive the development of neighboring countries and promote the deep connection between Chinese-style modernization and the "Golden Indonesia 2045" vision.
