On June 19, Jinning District held a symposium with Karo County, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia, and the two sides had in-depth exchanges on jointly promoting the construction of friendly and cooperative cities.

During the discussion, Li Song, deputy secretary of the district party committee and district mayor, introduced the situation of Jinning District and its location development advantages to the Caro County delegation.The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on promoting the establishment of friendly city cooperation relations.Both sides expressed the hope that they could actively explore and carry out various forms of exchanges and cooperation in the fields of trade, agriculture, tourism and so on in the future.At the same time, we should maintain close communication, consult on issues of common concern, strengthen personnel exchanges and visits, actively promote cooperation between enterprises of both sides, encourage enterprises to invest and start businesses in each other's country, and achieve complementary advantages.In promoting the establishment of friendly cities, we must follow the relevant regulations and procedures of each country and better carry out pragmatic exchanges and cooperation under the framework of friendly cities.

A delegation from Karo County, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia arrived in Jinning on June 18 and visited Zheng He Park, Jinning Museum, Jinning District International Flower Comprehensive Logistics Center and other places.

The city has a long history of friendship and cooperation

More than 600 years ago, the great navigator Zheng He visited Sumatra six times during his seven voyages to the West. As Zheng He's hometown, Jining has a profound historical and cultural connection with Sumatra, Indonesia.

Since 2008, Jinning District and Karuo County have conducted many friendly exchanges. From July 2008 to June 2012, Jinning District and Karuo County conducted four mutual visits and exchanges. The Karuo County exchange group went to Jinning to participate in the Zheng He Cultural Festival in 2008. Jinning District organized three delegations to Karuo County for exchange visits in 2009, 2010 and 2012. In 2020, Jinning District and Karuo County worked together to fight the COVID-19 epidemic. Jinning District provided Karuo County with N95 masks, infrared forehead thermometers and other epidemic prevention materials worth 130,400 yuan, and sent the care and warmth of the people of Jinning to the friendly city's fight against the epidemic.

In March 2024, when Consul General Zhang Min of the Chinese Consulate General in Medan, Indonesia met with Mayor Sebayan, they exchanged views on strengthening friendly cooperation between Jinning District and Karo County and promoting the establishment of friendly city relations, which facilitated the visit to Jinning by Mayor Sebayan and his delegation.
