"China-Thailand Youth Ambassador Camp" Kunming Station Opening Camp

On August 18th, the opening ceremony of the "China-Thailand Youth Ambassador Camp" Kunming Station was held at Kunming University of Science and Technology. 55 young people from universities in China and Thailand gathered in the Spring City to start a six-day study program in Kunming. Wang Yu, Vice President of the Yunnan Provincial People's Association for Foreign Friendship, Tang Jiahua, Secretary of the Party Committee of Kunming University of Science and Technology, Pawiwan, Consul General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Kunming, Romiyen Kositakan, Vice President of Mahidol University, and the heads of the Education Department, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Yunnan University, Yunnan Normal University, Kunming Medical University, Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and other universities attended the event.


Wang Yu reviewed the traditional friendship and the history of exchanges between Yunnan Province and Thailand. She stated that under the guidance of the "Belt and Road" initiative and the RCEP strategy, Yunnan has always implemented the important consensus reached by the leaders of China and Thailand, and has been at the forefront of cooperation with Thailand. At this important moment of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, the joint organization of the "China-Thailand Youth Ambassador Camp: Building a Sustainable China-Thailand Community of Shared Future" event by Yunnan and Thailand will surely continue to enhance the friendship between the youth of Yunnan and Thailand, and write a new chapter of "China-Thailand are family" in the new era.

Pawon said the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Thailand and the "Golden 50 Years of China-Thailand Friendship" have witnessed fruitful exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in various fields. The educational cooperation between Yunnan and Thailand has also achieved remarkable results. The "China-Thailand Youth Ambassador Camp" has enabled young people from China and Thailand to better understand each other's culture and work together to address global opportunities and challenges. Today, the Chinese and Thai youth coming together not only helps deepen China-Thailand friendly relations but also helps build a bright future for the China-Thailand community with a shared future.

Tang Jiahua said that young people are the inheritors of China-Thailand friendship and the creators of the future of China and Thailand. The "China-Thailand Youth Ambassador Camp" is of great significance for promoting the common exploration of the future path of sustainable development between the two countries. As the Chinese leading university of the "Yunnan-Thailand University Alliance", Kunming University of Science and Technology will continue to promote practical cooperation with Thailand's education and build a higher level of exchange platform for the youth of the two countries, to help build a community of destiny between China and Thailand.

The most effective cooperation is people-to-people exchanges, said Romiyan Kosekanon, adding that the event aims to enable Chinese and Thai youth to have an in-depth understanding of each other, enhance friendship, broaden their international horizons, and promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. It also seeks to gain insights into opportunities and challenges from the perspective of young people, and to explore new ideas for deepening China-Thailand cooperation.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, Thammasat University in Thailand, in conjunction with Prince of Songkhla University, Mahidol University, Kunming University of Science and Technology, Yunnan University, Yunnan Normal University, Kunming Medical University, and Yunnan University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, held the "China-Thailand Youth Ambassadors Camp" event from August 3 to 25, 2025, in five cities across both countries: Bangkok, Songkhla, Chiang Rai in Thailand, and Kunming and Beijing in China. The aim of the event was to enhance understanding and friendship between Chinese and Thai youth, to experience the cultures of both countries, to feel the achievements of China's modernization development, to cultivate youth leaders with international vision, and to inject new impetus into promoting regional sustainable development. The activities in Kunming focused on cultural investigation, technological innovation, enterprise visits, medical and health care, and ecological research.
