Eastbound to Yunnan, Lingering and Forgetting to Return: Singapore Trade and Commerce Delegation Visits the Provincial Association of Foreign Friendship
On the afternoon of June 13, a 16-member delegation of the Singapore-China Youth Exchange Association visited the Provincial Foreign Friendship Association. Wang Yu, the full-time Vice President, exchanged views with the delegation on strengthening educational cooperation and youth exchanges between Yunnan and Singapore.
Wang Yu welcomed the delegation's visit to Yunnan and introduced "a way of life called Yunnan". She stated that in November 2023, the Yunnan Provincial Association for Foreign and Domestic Friendship invited the China Association of Commerce and Industry to send youth to participate in the Yunnan branch activities of the 2023 Northeast Asian Youth Study Camp. The two sides established good working relations, and the Provincial Association for Foreign and Domestic Friendship is willing to continue strengthening cooperation with the China Association of Commerce and Industry to promote positive results in the exchange of friendship between Yunnan and Xinjiang, as well as cooperation in education, economy and trade, and youth exchanges.
Wang Nan-ni, Manager of the China Eastbound Tour, stated that to enhance understanding of China and deepen friendly exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields, China Eastbound Tour has established a dedicated working department and sends a youth delegation to visit China every year.
The members of this delegation include young entrepreneurs and government officials, most of whom are currently enrolled university students. Some study at Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore, while others have studied at Peking University and Fudan University. They used keywords such as "opened my eyes," "a breath of fresh air," "colorful and diverse," "fascinating," and "lost in the charm" to describe their genuine feelings about visiting Yunnan. "I have seen 'A Place with Wind,' and Yunnan's reclusive civilization truly deserves its reputation," "I am a backpacker, and among all the places I've been, only Yunnan has perfectly integrated natural scenery with cultural refinement," "Yunnan's preservation and inheritance of ethnic minority cultures are worthy of Singapore's learning," "I love Yunnan's cuisine; the Yunnan on the tip of my tongue made me lost in the charm," "I enjoyed the process of climbing Mount Jade Dragon and even more appreciated the Naxi people's concrete actions in protecting the environment, respecting nature, and cherishing the snow mountain," and so on.
Coordinated by the Provincial Foreign Friendship Association, the delegation visited Lijiang City and Kunming City, and successively held exchange activities with Kunming Pharmaceutical Group, Yunnan Energy Investment Group, Yunnan Agricultural Reclamation Group, Yunnan University, Kunming University of Science and Technology, and other institutions.
Singapore-China Business Cooperation was jointly launched in November 2007 by then Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council and Singapore's founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. It aims to cultivate bilingual and bicultural youth talent between China and Singapore, and to build a bridge connecting China with cultures and economies around the world.
