At the friendly city promotion conference, representatives from the Banteimi Province of Cambodia, Yangon City, Incheon City, South Korea, Timish Province of Romania, Chiang Rai Province of Thailand, Laojie Province of Vietnam, Nepal China Economic and Trade Association, as well as representatives from Kunming City, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture and other local government leaders successively promoted it.

Kunming is the industrial base with the best conditions and strongest strength in Yunnan, and is a hub node for cooperation in the Greater Mekong subregion. A relevant person in charge of Kunming City said that taking advantage of this cooperation week, Kunming hopes to deepen cooperation in the digital field with international friendly cities, including building a digital hub city, promoting urban digital governance, carrying out digital industry cooperation, and strengthening digital security construction.

Kunming's cooperation plan has received positive responses from Yangon City, one of its friendly cities. "From smart technology, green energy to cultural industries and health solutions, I was impressed by the breadth of innovation displayed in this exchange week and the South Expo. These are the areas where Yangon actively seeks cooperation, investment and knowledge exchange." Yangon Mayor Bo Tai said that he will strengthen communication with friendly cities such as Kunming and deeply tap the huge cooperation potential in the fields of urban development, renewable energy, digital transformation and sustainable tourism.

Since Kunming City and Fujisawa City, Japan, established the first pair of internationally friendly cities in Yunnan Province in 1981, Yunnan's international friendly city has been working for 44 years. Today, Yunnan has established 116 pairs of international friendly cities with 37 countries on five continents, and has also established friendly exchanges and cooperation relations with South Chungcheong Province, Incheon Hiroshima City and Iwate Prefecture, Japan, to form a global friendly city network. "After 20 years of visiting Yunnan, the local area has been completely renewed, and our cooperation effect in the fields of culture, tourism, industry and other fields is continuing to be released." said Huang Xiaozhen, deputy mayor of Incheon Guangyu City. At the signing ceremony after the promotion meeting, all parties signed a number of documents involving friendly cities, medical care, agriculture, environmental protection, economic and trade investment, laying a solid foundation for further deepening cooperation. Among them, Yunnan Province and West Sumatra, Indonesia signed a letter of intent to establish a friendly provincial relations, and plans to strengthen cooperation between agriculture and planting, tourism, education and scientific research, natural resource development and creative industries in the future.
