Internal working platform of Yunnan Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries

Recently, under the guidance of the Education Section of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, a youth exchange program with American friends was held in the United States, hosted by the Yunnan Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and organized by the Yunnan Provincial Commercial Representative Office in the United States (New York). On March 27, 24 teachers and students from Tushan School in Delaware visited the Chinese Embassy in the United States to participate in the "Experience Yunnan" themed exchange activity, experiencing China and Yunnan up close and deepening their understanding and awareness of Yunnan.

Visiting the Embassy: Experiencing China Through a Visit

The event kicked off at the embassy. Through the visit, students and teachers learned about China's educational philosophy and the situation of Sino-American cultural exchanges. They engaged in interactive exchanges centered on Chinese culture, educational development, and social life, creating a relaxed yet enthusiastic atmosphere. The diverse ethnic culture, natural environment, and characteristic industries of Yunnan were brought into the sight of American youth.

Ink and Brush Conveying Emotion: Experiencing Eastern Essence Through Writing

During the cultural experience segment, students dipped their brushes in ink and attempted to write Chinese characters such as "Yunnan" and "Friendship", while also practicing writing their own Chinese names. From their initial awkwardness to gradually becoming focused and immersed, everyone experienced the charm and rhythm of traditional Chinese culture through hands-on practice. The students expressed that the stroke-by-stroke writing allowed them to experience a unique aesthetic beauty different from that of alphabetic scripts.

Memory on the Tip of the Tongue: Remembering Yunnan Through Taste

The taste experience also became a major highlight of the event. The spicy, fragrant, and crispy Yunnan Angel potato chips and "Dian Erwa" potato chips quickly won the students' favor. Yunnan Baoshan coffee was also highly popular. Some students expressed a wish to take this taste from Yunnan home to share with their families. Through this taste experience, Yunnan is no longer just a distant geographical concept, but a real sensation that can be savored and remembered.

Classroom Paving: From Cognition to Experience

As a prelude to the embassy's activities, the activity team promoted a special teaching program for the Chinese language course at the Tushan School in Delaware, centered on "Experiencing Yunnan." The program systematically introduced content such as Yunnan's ethnic diversity, characteristic plateau agriculture, and the economic and trade cooperation between Yunnan and the United States. Through the organic integration of "classroom learning + embassy experience," the program further enhanced the perception of Yunnan among Delaware's youth.

Several students expressed their hope to visit Youcheng, Yunnan in person in the future to gain a deeper understanding of this diverse and vibrant land.
