In 2024, the Provincial Council of Friendship Association for Foreign Affairs adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, especially Xi Jinping's diplomatic thought, and focused on building more "four bridges" of folk exchanges, pragmatic cooperation, cultural exchanges, and youth friendship, carried out folk exchanges in all aspects, multi-level and wide areas, deepened the friendship between the people of Yunnan and the people of all countries in the world, continuously expanded practical cooperation in various fields, and effectively served the overall national diplomacy and the economic and social development of the whole province.

With the strong support of directors of various units, the Provincial Association for Friendship with Foreign Affairs will release a series of excellent work cases for some directors, aiming to show and share the practical experience and exploration results of directors of various units, promote mutual learning and mutual learning, and promote the work of the council continuously to open up new situations and write new chapters through typical guidance, demonstration and leading the way, and point-to-face, to ensure that the implementation of the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech during his inspection of Yunnan is effective.


In order to conscientiously implement the spirit of Premier Li Qiang's instructions on supporting the hosting of the Lancang-Mekong National Youth Entrepreneurs Forum in December 2023, with the initiative of the Communist Youth League Yunnan Provincial Committee, with the approval of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the first Lancang-Mekong National Youth Entrepreneurs Forum hosted by the All-China Youth Federation, China-ASEAN Youth Entrepreneurs Association, and hosted by the China International Youth Exchange Center, Yunnan Youth Federation, and Kunming Municipal People's Government, was held in Kunming from July 22 to 25, 2024.

Highlights of the event | The first Lancang-Mekong Youth Entrepreneurs Forum was launched in Kunming

The first Lancang-Mekong National Youth Entrepreneurs Forum is a youth exchange project initiated by national leaders and a key project in the youth foreign affairs work of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. The forum is themed "Deepening cooperation and creating prosperity together", aiming to deepen pragmatic cooperation among Lancang-Mekong countries and help build the Lancang-Mekong Basin Economic Development Belt. Wang Yi, Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and Vice Chairman of the All-China Youth Federation, Wang Zhengying, Vice Governor of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government, and Tilin Tanya Watana, Chairman of the Youth Chamber of Commerce of the Thailand Trade Commission, attended and delivered speeches. Wu Xiaofeng, Counselor of the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered a video speech. More than 160 young entrepreneurs from China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam participated. The forum invited relevant experts and scholars from home and abroad to give keynote speeches. Young entrepreneurs from the six Lancang-Mekong countries interacted on "challenges, opportunities and development" and exchanged and prospects on issues such as high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and Lancang-Mekong Cooperation opportunities.

A summary of results|Four highlights witness the Lancang-Mekong Youth Power

(1) Deepen exchanges and inspections to enhance mutual trust and understanding.Representatives of young entrepreneurs from the six Lancang-Mekong countries cover youth social organizations and industries such as agriculture, border trade, cross-border e-commerce, digital economy, medicine and health. Through two special industry inspections, four thematic roundtables, two Dianchi dialogues and other activities, they strengthen interactive exchanges, consolidate the foundation of cooperation, and promote youths from all countries to actively serve and integrate into the construction of the "Belt and Road".

(2) Issue the Kunming Declaration to build consensus among young people.The Lancang-Mekong Youth Entrepreneurs Association jointly issued the "Kunming Declaration on Cooperation between Young Entrepreneurs of Lancang-Mekong Countries", reaching a consensus on establishing a cooperation mechanism for young entrepreneurs of Lancang-Mekong Countries, calling on young entrepreneurs from all countries to adhere to the principle of consultation, joint construction and sharing, devote themselves to innovation-driven, and contribute wisdom and strength to building a closer community of shared future for Lancang-Mekong countries. The Kunming Declaration was published under the title of "Kunming", fully demonstrating Yunnan's advantages in internal and external connections.

(III) Focus on regional development and promote practical cooperation.Young entrepreneurs from the six Lancang-Mekong countries discussed issues such as modern agriculture, green development, scientific and technological innovation, and interconnection. They reached 45 cooperation projects in the fields of characteristic agriculture, engineering machinery, agricultural product import and export trade, and 13 Chinese enterprises and 6 foreign enterprises intend to continue in-depth exchanges to effectively strengthen cooperation among young entrepreneurs in the region.

(4) Tell China's stories well and widely promote Yunnan.The forum invited leaders of the governments of Kunming City, Wenshan Prefecture, Xishuangbanna Prefecture and Dehong Prefecture to carry out the "Dianchi Dialogue" with young entrepreneurs from the six countries of Lancang-Mekong to promote Yunnan's resource advantages, industrial policies, etc. The forum was reported by many central media such as People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, China National Radio and Television Station, and China Daily. The number of clicks per news reached 1 million + and the number of views of Douyin reached 10 million +; more than 30 reports were reported through Yunnan Radio and Television Station Lancang-Mekong International Satellite TV and Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam, covering more than 45 million people in the Lancang-Mekong Basin, effectively spreading China's voice and displaying the image of Yunnan.
