Internal working platform of Yunnan Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries

On August 30, Wang Yu, full-time vice president of the Provincial Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, met with Ginnis de Silva, president of the Sri Lanka China Association in Kunming.

Wang Yu said that the president of Guinness is a good friend of the Chinese people and has done a lot of work to promote the friendship between the two peoples over the years. China and Sri Lanka have a long history of exchanges. As early as the Tang and Song dynasties, Chinese tea, silk, porcelain and other products were transported to Sri Lanka and other South Asian countries through the Yunnan Tea Horse Road. Zheng He, a diplomat and navigator in the Ming Dynasty, was from Yunnan. He visited Sri Lanka many times during his seven voyages to the West, sowing the seeds of peace and friendship between China and Sri Lanka. In recent years, the Provincial Friendship Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries has implemented a number of "Heart-to-Heart Yunnan Tour" livelihood public welfare projects in Sri Lanka. The "Bright Journey" project has brought light to 218 cataract patients in Sri Lanka, and solar street lights, clean drinking water facilities, and love schoolbags have solved the urgent needs of local people in Sri Lanka. The Yunnan Provincial Friendship Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries is willing to work with the Sri Lanka China Association to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of youth exchanges, university cooperation, Zheng He-themed cultural exchanges and international dissemination of "small and beautiful" stories.

Guinness said that since its establishment in 1981, the Sri Lanka China Association has been committed to promoting friendly relations between the Sri Lankan and Chinese people, and has carried out fruitful exchanges and cooperation with various parts of China in the fields of youth exchanges, government scholarships, humanitarian aid, etc. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sri Lanka, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries awarded President Guinness the "China-Sri Lanka Friendship Contribution Award". He has done a lot of research and dissemination work in the field of people-to-people friendship between Sri Lanka and China. He hopes to establish a regular exchange mechanism with the Yunnan Provincial Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, jointly carry out youth painting exhibitions, university exchanges and cooperation, Zheng He theme activities, "Small but Beautiful" project publicity and other cooperation, and deepen the traditional friendship between Sri Lanka and China.
