The second phase of the production and living water facilities project was put into use. Director Jiu Niu expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Yunnan Province, China. He said that the project solved the water shortage problem that had plagued Dejigong Village for many years. The water quality has been tested to meet the drinking water standard. The well will be properly used and maintained, and he hopes to further strengthen personnel exchanges with Yunnan Province and work together to promote sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas. The villagers of Dejigong Village said excitedly that the Burmese believe that donating water has supreme merits. With this "Chinese well", they can drink safe water and deeply feel the sincere friendship from the people of Yunnan Province.

Phase II project water well

Not far from this handover project is a multi-purpose photovoltaic water well built by the 2023 "Heart-to-Heart Yunnan Tour" project. In the past, Dejigong Village could only "rely on the weather" for dry season planting, and most villagers only planted one season of rice a year. Local villagers fully supported the project construction and took the initiative to allocate farmland for free use of the project. Just over half a year after the photovoltaic water well was completed, one-third of the village's arable land has begun to plant dry season crops, and it is expected to harvest three crops within a year. Villager Jiu Minmo happily said, "With the Chinese well, I can earn 51 million Myanmar Kyats (about 93,000 yuan) more this season than in previous years."

Villager Jiuminmo's barn is filled with freshly harvested dry season rice.

Since its completion, the project has not only become a "wealth well" for the villagers of Dekigong, but also gradually demonstrated its demonstration effect. At the end of 2023, technicians from the water source bureaus of various towns in Naypyidaw visited the project to learn about its construction, management and maintenance experience. The project provides a good reference for other towns in Naypyidaw to explore solutions to rural production and living water problems.

At the end of 2023, technicians from the water source bureaus of various towns in Naypyidaw will observe and learn about the construction, management and maintenance of the multi-purpose photovoltaic water well in Dekigong Village.

Clear sweet spring water, strong fraternal feelings. In 2024, the Provincial Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries will continue to implement the "Heart-to-Heart Yunnan Tour" project in Myanmar, contribute Yunnan's strength to jointly building a community of shared future between China and Myanmar, and inject inexhaustible power of people-to-people connectivity into the strong fraternal feelings.
