On June 20, the concentrated signing and donation ceremonies of the 2024 China-Laos-Myanmar Border Ethnic People's Grand Gala were held in Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture.


The 2024 China-Laos-Myanmar People's Grand Gala, themed "Connected Mountains and Rivers, Sharing the Rainforest," continued until the 22nd, featuring content such as agreement signings, project donations, the "International Lao Geng" Grand Gala of the China-Laos-Myanmar people, and media experience activities, fully showcasing the achievements of friendly cooperation and development in the China-Laos-Myanmar border region.

The event is guided by the China Association for International Exchange and Friendship, and hosted by the Yunnan Provincial Association for International Exchange and Friendship, the Xishuangbanna Prefecture People's Government, and the Lao Consulate General in Kunming.


On the same day, Mengla County of Xishuangbanna Prefecture and Mengsay District of Oudomxay Province, Laos, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Friendly Counties, and the Maocao Mountain Village Group of Huiluo Village, Mengban Town, Mengla County, signed a Protocol on Friendly Villages with the Maocao Mountain Village Group of Ben Nu District, Phongsali Province, Laos. The Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Mengla County signed a Cross-border Labor Cooperation Agreement with the Labor and Social Welfare Bureau of Ben Nu District, Phongsali Province, Laos, and Luming Farm Group Co., Ltd. of Mengla County signed an Overseas Agricultural Strategic Cooperation Agreement with the National Agricultural and Agricultural Products Distribution Center and International Logistics Co., Ltd. of Laos.

At the donation ceremony, the Yunnan Provincial Friendship Association donated the "Heart Connect, Yunnan Goes to Laos" project to the Chinese Consulate General in Laos; the China-Southeast Asia Scholarship Fund donated the China-Southeast Asia Scholarship to Mengla County Vocational Senior High School. Two families from China's Manlie Village and Laos's Man Nakham Village were established as "Model Friendly Paired Families".


Yunnan is the only province in China bordering Laos. In recent years, the "visiting relatives" style of exchanges between Yunnan and Laos has become increasingly close, and cooperation in multiple fields has been continuously heating up. Currently, Yunnan Province and Laos have established 8 pairs of international sister cities and 4 pairs of friendly villages, with the cooperation between Yunnan and Laos consistently leading the way in local cooperation between the two countries. Yunnan has successively implemented 28 small yet beautiful "Heart-Connected Yunnan" projects in Laos, involving fields such as agriculture, education, health, and biodiversity conservation, achieving practical results.

Since 2022, Menghla County, Yunnan Province, and Laos have jointly hosted the "China-Laos Border People's Grand Carnival," with cumulative participation exceeding 200,000 people, becoming an important platform for people-to-people exchanges to enhance friendship and deepen cooperation and development between the two sides.
