From May 25 to 27, 2025, a delegation of 101 university students from the Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association visited Yunnan. In just a few days, these young Japanese faces traversed the streets and alleys of Kunming, touching a real and three-dimensional Yunnan amidst the fragrance of the Dounan flower sea, the skill experiences at the National Minzu University, the visit to the Youcheng Photo Exhibition, and the vibrant atmosphere of Guandu Ancient Town.

On May 26, Wang Yu, the full-time Vice President of the Provincial Federation of Friendship Associations of China with Foreign Countries, held a working exchange with Chiyoung Kato, the head of the delegation and a standing committee member of the Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association. Wang Yu introduced the colorful, open, and developing Yunnan, stating that the Yunnan Provincial Federation of Friendship Associations of China with Foreign Countries is willing to build more youth-friendly bridges to enhance the understanding and friendship between the younger generations of China and Japan. Chiyoung Kato stated that he has long been dedicated to China-Japan friendship work and hopes that the youth of both countries will strengthen their exchanges to promote mutual understanding among the people. The Japanese youth representatives shared their observations, experiences, and feelings from this trip. They expressed that interacting and exchanging with the same-aged university students in Yunnan not only allowed them to perceive Yunnan's unique cultural charm but also enabled them to learn from and exchange with the young people of Yunnan, thereby getting to know and connect with them.
