Japanese Central Region University Student Delegation Visits Yunnan
To deeply tell the stories of China's rural revitalization and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' assistance, and to promote the achievements of Yunnan's economic and social development, the Consulate General in Nagoya organized a delegation of 26 university student representatives from the central Japan region, including Nagoya University, Gifu University, Chubu University, Meijo University, Shiga Prefectural University, Aichi Institute of Technology, and Gifu Pharmaceutical University, to visit Yunnan Province from September 7 to 12, 2025.
On September 8, Wang Yu, the full-time Vice President of the Provincial Federation of Friendship Associations, held a working exchange with the delegation. Wang Yu briefly introduced the economic and social development and opening up of Yunnan Province, as well as the exchange and cooperation between Yunnan and Japan, particularly youth exchanges. She stated that China held the commemorative activities for the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, with the purpose of remembering history, honoring martyrs, cherishing peace, and creating a future. The China-Japan Friendship Association advocates for world peace and has played an important role in the friendly exchanges between China and Japan. The Japanese spokesperson stated that Yunnan Province has remarkable diversity and unique characteristics, where ethnic minorities live in harmony, embodying the wisdom of mutual learning, mutual exchange, and inclusive development among different cultures. During this visit, the delegation engaged in in-depth exchanges with Yunnan youth, personally experiencing a real, three-dimensional, and comprehensive China, and comprehending the historical origins of friendly exchanges between Japan and China. They hope to share what they have seen and heard with their Japanese friends, and contribute to promoting practical cooperation between Yunnan Province and Japan in areas such as cultural and educational exchange, ecological protection, and AI technology.
During their visit to Yunnan, the delegation engaged in exchanges with teachers and students from Yunnan universities on the themes of "China-Japan Friendship" and "Cherishing Peace." They visited the former site of Southwest Associated University, Yunnan Ethnic Village, Shilin Geological Park, Kunming Botanical Garden, the iFlytek Artificial Intelligence Experience Center, and the Railway Museum, and went to Jinping County, Honghe Prefecture, to learn about rural revitalization and ethnic integration.
