At the invitation of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, a 17-member delegation of young students from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Relations visited Kunming from March 20 to 22, 2024.


On March 21, Zhang Shijin, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Provincial People's Government and President of the Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, met with the delegation and used Yunnan Bridge Rice Noodles as a metaphor to express that Chinese culture is inclusive and diverse, and hoped that American youths would gain a deeper understanding of China through their visits. A complete and true impression of China, contributing to the promotion of Sino-US friendship.Wang Yu, full-time vice president of the Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, attended the event.

During their stay in Kunming, the delegation visited the Provincial Department of Commerce, Yunnan University, Yunnan Energy Investment Group and Yunnan Construction Investment Group for discussions and exchanges; visited the Kunming Flying Tigers Memorial Hall to relive the profound friendship between China and the United States during World War II; and inspected Jinning, a small fishing village, learned about the rural revitalization situation in Yunnan Province; investigated the China Railway Intermodal Kunming Central Station; watched the large-scale original ethnic minority cultural performance "Image of Yunnan" and felt the charm of Yunnan ethnic minority culture.

Young students said that seeing is worth hearing a hundred times. During this visit, they learned about Yunnan’s development achievements in foreign exchanges, green development, ecological governance, traditional culture, rural revitalization and other fields, and experienced the beauty of Yunnan’s nature, humanity and development. , have a true understanding of China, especially Yunnan, and are willing to make active efforts for Sino-US friendship.
