The work of Yunnan as an international sister city has always been guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, especially Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, and resolutely implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches during his two inspections of Yunnan and the spirit of the instructions on the work of international sister cities, giving full play to With its own characteristics and advantages, it adheres to the purpose of "promoting people's friendship, promoting international cooperation, safeguarding world peace, and promoting common development", and has played an important role in serving the construction of radiation centers for South and Southeast Asia, the province's economic and social development, and improving the level of opening up to the outside world. effect.

In November 1981, Kunming City and Fujisawa City of Japan concluded the first pair of international sister cities in Yunnan Province, kicking off the work of Yunnan’s international sister cities. Up to now, Yunnan Province has established 111 pairs of international sister cities with 37 countries on 5 continents, concluded friendly exchange relations with 14 national friendship organizations, and established 34 pairs of friendly villages with neighboring provinces in three neighboring countries.

Yunnan International Sister Cities are an important carrier and witness for Yunnan to build a new pattern of opening up to the outside world. The exhibition will be on display on the fourth floor of the Yunnan Literature and Art Museum from October 16, 2024 to October 15, 2025, and is co-sponsored by the Provincial Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles. The exhibition takes "Yunnan·There is a kind of friend called a sister city" as the theme. It uses graphic materials, images and videos as carriers, and is divided into regions. It includes a preface, Asia, America, Europe, Oceania and Africa. , "Heart-Connected Yunnan Tour" has 8 chapters in Yunnan and a conclusion, showing the exchanges, cooperation results, people-to-people diplomacy and other situations of Yunnan Province's international sister cities.

Each photo is just a moment in the long history, and when strung together, it forms a picture of the times, quietly narrating the past of Yunnan Province from "end" to "frontier", and sensing the pulse of the times as Yunnan Province seizes opportunities and forges ahead. After more than 40 years of reform and opening up, Yunnan Province’s “circle of friends” has continued to grow and expand, and its network resources have continued to be optimized.
