On January 22, 2026, the Yunnan Daily published an article reporting that in recent years, Yunnan Province has coordinated diverse forces and actively carried out people-to-people diplomatic work with Vietnam, contributing to the construction of a community with a shared future between China and Vietnam.

Since 2023, the Yunnan People's Association for Foreign Friendship has jointly organized four "Border People's Big Reunion" series of activities with relevant prefectures (cities) within the province and Vietnam, with tens of thousands of participants, and dozens of agreements have been signed in the fields of humanities, economy and trade, people's livelihood, and friendly relations. The "Border People's Big Reunion" has now become a new platform for carrying out people-to-people diplomacy in border areas between China and neighboring countries and promoting the opening up of the border.

Over the past three years, Yunnan has implemented 14 "Heart to Heart, Yunnan Journey" projects in Vietnam, including the "Cross-border Red Journey" for Vietnamese teenagers, comprehensive community development in Sino-Vietnamese friendly villages, and training in edible fungus planting technology, benefiting the people of provinces such as Lang Son and Lai Chau. These projects were specifically implemented by the Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, the Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, the Yunnan People's International Friendship Exchange Foundation, the Yunnan Provincial International and Folk Organization Cooperation Promotion Association, and the Yunnan Provincial Business Representative Office in Vietnam.
