On April 9th, the Standing Committee of the First Council of the Provincial Foreign Friends Association held its fourth enlarged meeting to convey and study the important exposition of General Secretary Xi Jinping on people-to-people diplomacy and the spirit of the Plenary Session of the Provincial Foreign Affairs Commission in 2026. The meeting also deliberated and passed the new units of the council, foreign honorary council members, and the "List of Practical Things to be Done by the Standing Committee", and studied and arranged the work for 2026. Yang Shaocheng, President of the Provincial Foreign Friends Association Council, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.Mou Hongchao, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Industry and Commerce; Cui Wen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles; Wan Yanjuan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Overseas Chinese; Yan Ming, Vice President of Yunnan University of Finance and Economics, and other council members who are also part-time vice presidents, as well as Gao Shaozhou, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Trade Union of Yunnan Agricultural Group, and Shao Weiqing, Vice President of Yunnan National University, made exchange speeches. Wang Yu, the full-time vice president of the council, presided over the meeting.

The meeting fully affirmed the achievements of the Board of Directors' work in 2025, and considered that the board members of various units have thoroughly implemented the foreign policies and work arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the work of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, actively taken action, and worked in the same direction, jointly organizing more than 90 folk foreign exchange activities, promoting the quality and efficiency of international friendly city work, and the brand effect of " Border People's Big Reunion", "Love Yunnan", Vietnam Youth "Red Research Trip", "Kinship to China· China Root Search Trip", "International High-Quality Coffee Industry Development Conference", "China-South Asia and Southeast Asia Think Tank Forum" and other brands is increasingly prominent, and 45 "Heart to Heart, Yunnan Travel" people's livelihood public welfare projects have been implemented in 17 countries, making positive contributions to serving the national diplomatic situation, and helping to build a radiation center facing South Asia and Southeast Asia and the economic and social development of the province.

The meeting pointed out that the world is experiencing unprecedented changes, and people-to-people diplomacy has entered a new stage where it can achieve great things and has more opportunities to act. The Board of Directors should adhere to Xi Jinping's diplomatic thought as a guide, unite and pool their efforts, and continue to strive to promote the opening of a good start and a good step for the work of people-to-people diplomacy in Yunnan Province during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. The directors should have a sense of the "state's major concerns", grasp the direction and positioning of Yunnan's people-to-people diplomacy work, play their advantages in their own units and fields, and actively serve the overall diplomacy of the country. They should focus on the "four bridges", deeply tap the resources of people-to-people diplomacy and the materials of people-to-people friendship, and carry out more people-to-people diplomatic activities with political height, Yunnan temperature, and practical strength; they should empower local development with "international friendly cities +", promote the relationship between friendly cities from "友好交流" to "win-win cooperation"; they should carry out solid learning and education on establishing and practicing the correct concept of political achievements, improve the efficiency of the operation of the Board of Directors, establish a cross-departmental collaborative system, effectively pool work strength, and promote the high-quality development of Yunnan's people-to-people foreign affairs work.
